A Common Prayer for Healing Cancer Took Place in Ivano-Frankivsk

On the eve of Candlemas and International Childhood Cancer Day, a prayer to the Holy Virgin took place. Father Capelani, Father Ruslan, and Father Jury prayed for the healing of the children with cancer.

Priests, healthcare workers, parents, and children in one prayer asked the Holy Virgin to heal the children.

A child with cancer is a hard trial for the whole family. Often parents ask why all this happened to my child.

Father Ruslan said: “Do not look for a reason, because you will never be able to find it. Help your child through strong faith and sincere prayer to God for healing and make sure that you child receives professional medical help.

Fathers blessed the children with holy water and gave each of them an icon. They also visited children that were in critical condition in hospital wards.

Lidya Dozenko, assistant of the head of the department in Ivano-Frankivsk Children’s Hospital said, “In our hospital, healthcare workers and clergy work together to help parents and children to go through the hard trial and to win the battle with cancer. John Chrysostom wrote that faith is a shield, and in hard time let’s look for a consolation in our faith.”

Michael is the youngest in our family. From his birth, we were fighting for his life. He was born prematurely and with heart failure. Michael was weak and he often had colds that ended with laryngitis, attacks, and seizures. Michael was under doctors’ supervision all the time. Arina Zhurakovska is a five-year-old girl under the care of the charitable foundation "Ty Anhel". The girl has cerebral palsy. She has been diagnosed with right-sided hemiparesis with pronounced motor skills disturbances. In spite of everything and thanks to the intense therapy during the last several years, the girl is able to walk all by herself. However, to complete the rehabilitation, the family needs 60000 grivnas. Arina's mother is a single parent, and the family does not have that much money. The thorny life path began right at birth: artificial lung ventilation, infusion therapy, umbilical catheter are just a few trial of a poor child.

During a physical at school, doctors noticed spots on Ivanna’s lungs, but they did not explain what that could be and refused to refer the girl to see a specialist. At that time, Ivanna always had fever and dry coughing. ESR was high, and of hemoglobin was low. The girl was getting worse every day.
